War diary Writing

Hi there In my writing class we were learning about world war 1 in Gallipoli. the reason we did a diary about WW1 was because it was anzac day I enjoy learning about the war.

                      April 15th,1915

Dear diary, us ANZACs have landed at Gallipoli unfortunately it is not going to plan. We have started the war. I am currently sitting behind a machine gun waiting for my signal while bullets rain down over the hard ground. So many lives are already lost. Most of us are already wounded. The fighting is already intense and my friend is here with me he just told me we are going into trenches soon by the hills.oh no i got hit gotta go.

Yours Tovie

                            April 20th,1915

Dear diary, today was mail day. My mum sent me a parcel. It contained beef in a can, hard biscuits, a first aid kit ,some photos of family, water, some jam and anzac biscuits. It took them some time to remember that I was in the hospital. We are currently in hospital. I am wounded on my leg and I am alone  My nurses ella-pearl and Coraline are coming back anytime now They said I might get amputated. I said that's okay as long as i could still fight for my country there at the door now gotta go

                 April 30th,1915

Dear diary, It's been a long time because I had to get amputated and I had to have a rest. Some of my friends found me a really smooth one and I am using it to walk. Thanks to my nurses I can still fight for my country and don't have to go home.

I am in a trench now with my freinds and the bullets and shrapnel are still raining down like an army of hail. It's hard to be here fighting for my country and watching more than 92,000,00 friends and men die in minutes or less. The sound of the firing has hurt my ears since we landed. This is late night and they are still shooting bullets like it's nothing. I am getting tired now. I gotta go. Yours tovie

Hi glad I found a spot to even write today. The fighting is so intense I am firing so hard it is really hard to kill other troops even when they are not on our side. It's hard to write at this time because you're almost speechless. No, I got hit in the arm.

Yay i am healed and in hospital again it is really hard to survive all of these injuries , anyway today is mail day and i am going to also be sending letters to people like my mum , friends , and last but not least other family and nurses. What I wrote to my mum : hi mum has been hit so many times it is really hard to survive. I have been amputated on the leg and amputated on my left hand. I write with my right hand and that's why I can write to you. Love you heaps Tovie

What I wrote to my family : I love you all Have been amputated twice and am still surveying. Love you lots Tovie

I know not much but I told them the good news I also received for mail day from my mum. I got a bottle of water , 20 anzac cookies (very lucky hehe) and some peanut butter and homemade jam.

             May 20th ,1915

Hi again it is mail day again for me but before I tell you what I got I wanted to apologize for how long it has been. So yes I skipped 5 days I had a lot to discuss with my nurses like how bad it hurt, where I was , and who I was with so yes sorry for being that long. The other thing I told them was that I only remember them throwing smoke bombs and then getting hit. Okay so what was in the parcel my mum gave me more anzac biscuits about 20 again , more water , some different hard biscuits , jam , bully beef in a can and a letter that said: hi my darling I love and miss you so much I really want to see you again be careful love you lots Mum. so that was heartwarming.

Yours truly tovie

woo hoo dear diary today I am out of the hospital and back to fighting for my country. I am currently in the field kitchen for the first time heating my canned beef. I like canned beef but I cannot wait to go home to a home cooked meal. So I am going back to the battlegrounds now. Wow, the fighting is really intense and my friend is out of hospital here with me. Henry I yelled he took a bullet the middle of the head needed to go .
